2008 Florida High Tech Corridor (FHTC) Internships

A Florida state-wide summer work / internship program during
which undergraduates and graduates will participate in a
10-week, STEM paid internship program to experience real
world research, and on the job training at FHTC locations.
Program structure:
Ø
Florida
undergraduates may apply for a 10-week, paid summer
internship with FHTC companies and each successful applicant
will receive a $4000 stipend for their participation.
Successful graduates will receive $5,000.
Ø
The Job
Descriptions & Application process will be posted on all
three partnerships websites, and successful candidates will
be selected by the FHTC industry mentors.
Ø
The NASA /
FSGC will gather all the student applications and provide
FHTC & SF with the details, prior to FHTC selection of
successful candidates.
Ø
Students must
take care of their own private accommodations for the
internship and are also responsible for their own
transportation.
Ø
Students are
expected to consider this internship as full time and
therefore should not be attending summer classes.
Ø
The internship
stipends will be paid directly to the students by Space
Florida, with support from the NASA / FSGC.
Ø
Each intern
and FHTC mentor will be expected to submit a work experience
report to at the conclusion of the program.
Work / Internship / Research Areas:
Ø
Interns will
work / intern in the areas of
Science,
Technology,
Engineering and
Math (STEM)
and science and space related areas.
Ø

detailed list of internship Job Descriptions will be posted
shortly.
Optional Activities
Ø
Student /
Interns will be provided the opportunity to visit the
Kennedy Space Center and participate in a special briefing
by KSC personnel and then tour facilities.
Application Procedure
1. All undergraduate students enrolled in a Florida
university are eligible for the internships
2. Open to US Citizens only.
3. FHTC mentors will make the final selection.
4. Space Florida in conjunction with the NASA / FSGC will
pay a stipend of $4000 directly to undergraduates, ($5,000
to graduates), 50% upon commencing the internship and the
balance after 4 weeks.
5. The internship will be for 10 weeks commencing on June 4,
2008.
6. All interested students should send a cover letter
indicating the work / research area that they are interested
in and if they will participate in the optional activity at
KSC.
7. The student application package should reach the NASA /
FSGC office no later than COB
April 25, 2008.
8. Provide a copy of your transcript, at least one letter of
recommendation, and your resume to:
